2nd North American Meeting – Minneapolis MN – Feb 10th 2016
The FIG Young Surveyors North American Network will hold its next meeting in conjunction with the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS) Annual Conference. The 2nd FIG Young Surveyors North American meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA. Young surveyors attending will also have the opportunity and have been invited by the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors to attend the remainder of MSPS Annual Conference, February 11-12.
YSN has been making waves internationally, and xyHt has had the pleasure of following the growth since the early days of the network – we have published guest columns and have selected several YSN delegates among our 40 geospatial leaders under 40. FIG defines a young surveyor as: A person 35 years old or younger or within 10 years of graduation with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in surveying/geomatics. But interest in the YSN is not limited to the young; state professional societies and industry have taken notice – issues of succession planning and attracting young folks into the profession are of paramount importance.
If you are a young surveyor, or know someone who is, participation in the YSN and attendance at this (or a subsequent) meeting would be a great opportunity to network with other young surveyors and contribute to this initiative. A great speaker lineup includes:
